Job summary

The John of Gaunt School in Bath is seeking a committed One-to-One Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support to an individual student, enabling access to learning and building confidence. The role is part of EQUA Mead Learning Trust, with a focus on inclusion and high expectations across the school day.

You will work with the SEND team and teachers to tailor support, track progress, promote independence, and uphold safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

• GCSE grade 4/C or above in English and Maths.
• Experience of working or volunteering with young people in an educational or youth setting.
• Commitment to supporting students with SEND, Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language Needs and SEMH.
• Calm, patient, resilient and adaptable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
• Organised, reliable and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Good IT skills and willingness to undertake professional development.
• A Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning welcomed but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality one-to-one support within lessons and around the school.
• Adapt activities to meet individual learning needs and promote engagement.
• Encourage independence while providing appropriate levels of support.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with students, families and colleagues.
• Support the student's emotional wellbeing, confidence and personal development.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and specialists to implement personalised support strategies.
• Contribute to a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Maintain accurate records where required and uphold safeguarding and confidentiality.
