Job summary

The John of Gaunt School in Wiltshire is seeking a dedicated One-to-One Teaching Assistant to support a student with diverse learning needs during the school day. You will work closely with teaching staff to tailor activities and promote independence, while maintaining safeguarding and accurate records.

Ideal candidates will have GCSEs in English and Maths, experience with young people, and a commitment to inclusion.

Qualifications

• GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Mathematics.
• Experience of working or volunteering with young people in an educational or youth setting.
• Commitment to supporting students with SEND (including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language Needs, SEMH).
• Calm, patient, resilient and adaptable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
• Organised, reliable and able to work independently and collaboratively.
• Good IT skills and willingness to undertake professional development.
• Level 3 qualification welcomed but not essential.

• Provide high-quality one-to-one support within lessons and around the school.
• Adapt activities to meet individual learning needs and promote engagement.
• Encourage independence while providing appropriate levels of support.

• Work collaboratively with teachers and specialists to implement personalised support strategies.

• Maintain accurate records where required and uphold safeguarding and confidentiality.
