Job summary

Outwood Grange Academies Trust (OGAT) seeks a One to One Tutor for Outwood Academy City Fields in Wakefield. The role focuses on delivering targeted interventions, planning differentiated learning, and supporting pupils to achieve progress.

You will work with the Mathematics Department to prepare materials, track pupil progress, and provide feedback to staff. A graduate or qualified teacher with strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate or AS/A2 level in a relevant subject or be a qualified teacher.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Strong time management and organisational skills.
• Experience of working in a school environment desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver intervention programmes to individuals in collaboration with teaching staff.
• Develop intervention materials, lesson plans and resources.
• Report on pupil progress and liaise with Head of Department and teachers.
• Support exam revision sessions and comply with safeguarding procedures.
• Engage with safeguarding guidelines and contribute to a positive learning environment.

About the Department:

Our Mathematics Department consists of eight teachers and two one-to-one tutors. The Department is a combination of experienced staff and more recent entrants to the profession, and is given strategic direction by supportive and determined leaders. We have the benefit of support from the Trust's team of expert Maths Directors who provide support, materials, advice, coaching and who model and team-teach in lessons alongside us to develop our expertise. The Department has created a rich and engaging curriculum which has deep roots in teaching for understanding. Our curriculum is differentiated by depth, ensuring all students build firm foundations, develop confidence and retain their learning.

The One to One Tutor will deliver intervention programmes to individuals , working with department staff to prepare and implement appropriate learning experiences. A core duty is to assist in developing suitable intervention material, lesson plans, and resources.

You will be responsible for reporting on individual pupil progress and regularly liaising with the Head of Department and teachers to provide feedback. Furthermore, you will support exam revision sessions and must comply with Child Safeguarding Procedures at all times.

We require a Graduate in a related subject or an AS/A2 level in a relevant subject or be a qualified teacher. You must possess excellent communication and listening skills, alongside strong time management and organisational skills.

Essential abilities include supporting students with science work up to GCSE level and having a working knowledge of standard computer packages. Experience of working in a school environment is desirable.
