Southend University Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join the chemotherapy unit, supporting patients undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other cancer treatments. You will work alongside registered nurses to ensure a safe, welcoming and efficient clinic environment with a focus on patient safety and infection control.

The role requires empathy, strong communication skills and a collaborative approach in a busy oncology setting.

Qualificações

• Proficient in recording accurate vital signs and spotting a deteriorating patient.
• Experience in performing ECG's.
• Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and safe handling of clinical waste.
• Be able to manage a fast paced workload and multi task during busy clinics.
• Able to follow direct instructions
• Effective team working but also able to use own initiative
• Have good listening and communication skills

Responsabilidades

• Perform clinical observations of blood pressure, pulse, temperature, before treatment.
• Report any abnormal patient observation or deteriorating condition to registered nursing team.
• Carry out ECG's
• Take routine MRSA swabs .
• Support patients with mobility or personal care.
• Offer empathetic, compassionate listening to patients .
• Maintain infection control– in all clinical areas .
• Support with scalp cooling .
