The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) is a vibrant and growing charity delivering life-changing nautical adventures for young people through the Sea Cadets, aiming to give them the best possible start in life. We also provide personal and professional development opportunities for seafarers. Working with staff, cadets, and volunteers, we have developed a vision and five-year strategy to enhance our contribution to thousands of young people and seafarers, while supporting our volunteers who are vital to our success.
We are currently seeking an OTW Project Assistant to support the delivery of the On The Water project at one of our boating stations in London. The project offers young people aged 9-14 from outside Sea Cadets the opportunity to engage in water activities, learn new skills, and build confidence. This varied and rewarding role requires someone who is self-motivated, inspiring, organized, creative, tenacious, positive, IT competent, and enthusiastic about working with people.
Project delivery runs from 29 July 2024 to 30 August 2025, during which young people will attend boating sessions. The Project Assistant will be based at the station during this period, handling registration, managing group changeovers, tracking targets, encouraging survey completion, and filling booking gaps. Before delivery, the role involves supporting bookings and community outreach. After delivery, the focus shifts to evaluation, data collection, and helping participants join their local Sea Cadet unit.
