Job summary

Manpower UK is seeking an experienced NEC4 Supervisor to join our highways and transportation team on major schemes. You will oversee quality assurance, witness inspections and testing, identify defects, and ensure delivery in line with contract requirements and standards.

You will review designs, manage ITP witnessing, maintain comprehensive records, and work with clients, contractors and the project team to achieve high-quality outcomes on time and safely.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in design and construction of highway infrastructure.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Diligent, proactive and thorough approach.

Responsibilities

• Undertake NEC4 Supervisor duties as per NEC 4 ECC.
• Review designs and raise constructability safety/quality queries.
• Review ITPs to agree witnessing requirements.
• Witness on-site testing and maintain records of results.
• Identify and notify defects as per contract.
• Verify workmanship and materials meet contract specs.
• Monitor progress and advise Client PM on risks/issues.
• Submit weekly progress/quality/safety reports.

Job description

We are supporting a leading engineering and infrastructure consultancy in the search for an experienced Highways NEC4 Supervisor to join their transportation team.

Working within an integrated project delivery environment, you'll act as the NEC4 Supervisor on major highway infrastructure schemes, overseeing quality assurance, witnessing inspections and testing, identifying defects, and ensuring works are delivered in accordance with contract requirements, industry standards, and project specifications. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of high-profile highways projects while working closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking the duties of Supervisor as stated in the Contract (NEC 4 ECC).
• Acquainting yourself with the schemes design and raising queries with regards to constructability in terms of safety and quality.
• Reviewing the Inspection and Test Plans to agree witnessing requirements.
• Witnessing on-site testing and commissioning and keeping appropriate records of results.
• Identification and notification of any Defects in accordance with the contract
• Verifying the standards of work and the materials supplied by the contractor are as specified in accordance with the Contract
• Monitoring the progress of the works providing advice to the Client Project Manager of any risks and issues.
• Submitting reports on a weekly basis to the Client Project Manager to advise on progress and the status of construction related safety, quality and completion issues;
• Maintaining appropriate records of site inspections, tests and audits.
• Attending meetings and inspections, both on and off site as required.
• As part of the integrated delivery team you will be expected to contribute to:

- Maintaining high standards of safety and quality control on the contract via the monitoring of the construction works;

- Resolution of technical problems on site;

- Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner; meeting and collaborating with the integrated delivery team to form strong working relationships.

Qualifications/Experience

• Degree/HND in Civil Engineering or related disciplines
• Experience of the design and construction of highway infrastructure projects
• Good writing, client-facing and communication skills
• Diligent, proactive and thorough approach to detail.
• Collaborative and practical approach to problem solving
• Knowledge of the Design Manual Road and Bridges and Specification for Highway Works
• Experience in carrying out duties of NEC supervisor
