Job summary

Astute People seeks a Solar Technician to support sites in and around Peterborough. The role offers £35,000–£45,000 salary, a company van, private healthcare, life insurance, and strong training and progression opportunities.

You will carry out maintenance, faults, and inspections across ground-mounted solar assets while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Occasional travel and weekend rota apply.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working on utility-scale solar projects.
• Level 3 electrical qualification.
• ECS card.
• 2391 Test & Inspection qualification desirable.
• HV Authorised Person status desirable.
• Good working knowledge of industry-standard testing equipment and electrical instruments.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across ground-mounted solar assets.
• Test and inspect electrical systems, identify faults and repair where possible.
• Liaise with suppliers to troubleshoot on site.
• Complete daily reports detailing work and site activities.
• Perform fault finding on AC and DC systems.
• Ensure work aligns with HSE legislation and procedures.
• Supervise third-party contractors on site when required.
• Participate in weekend call-out rota with additional payment.
• Undertake occasional travel and overnight stays.
