Job summary

Amey is seeking an on-site General Building Operative for HMP Lincoln. You will join a team delivering planned and reactive maintenance in a secure environment, following safety rules and reporting faults.

The role covers decorating, furniture assembly, basic repairs, and site housekeeping, with weekend shifts on a 1 in 3 rota and a 15% weekend allowance. Prison security clearance is required and the salary is £28,792 per year.

Qualifications

• Solid DIY/ general building maintenance experience.
• CITB certification or equivalent.
• Willingness to learn new skills.
• Ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team to provide general maintenance tasks and support tradespeople on site.
• Provide a professional assistance service to those requesting support including contractor escorting duties when required.
• Complete tasks associated with DIY such as Decorating, hanging notice boards, building furniture, repair of items around the prison.
• Check appliances, fittings and general environment are in good working order and all defects reported to Team Leader.
• General good housekeeping, including litter picking and landscaping around the grounds if required.
• All other FM duties as required directed by team manager.
• This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
• Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
