Job summary

Amey is offering an on-site General Building Operative role at HMP Lincoln. The standard hours are 39 hours per week across seven days with a weekend rota, and a 15% allowance for weekend work. The base salary is £28,792.

You will join a team providing general maintenance, supporting tradespeople, carrying out DIY tasks, and ensuring safety and high standards across the prison environment. This role supports carbon programmes and requires Prison Security Clearance.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in DIY/general building maintenance.
• CITB relevant certification or equivalent.
• Willingness to learn new skills.
• Ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team to provide general maintenance tasks and support tradespeople on site.
• Provide professional assistance and contractor escorting duties when required.
• Complete tasks related to DIY, such as decorating, hanging notice boards, building furniture, repairs around the prison.
• Check appliances, fittings and environment are in good working order; report defects to Team Leader.
• General housekeeping, including litter picking and grounds landscaping as needed.
• Support local and carbon-reduction programmes where appropriate.
• Ensure H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
