Job summary

Amey is seeking a qualified Plumber to join the onsite maintenance team at HMP Risley in Warrington. This long-term, single-site role requires a 39-hour week on a rota, including 1 in 3 weekends, with a £30,866–£36,135 salary plus a 15% shift allowance.

You will perform planned and reactive maintenance, repair water systems, diagnose faults, and conduct water sampling and risk checks to keep the site safe, compliant, and operational.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing & Heating is required.
• Experience in maintenance work, ideally in commercial/FM.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Basic knowledge of water hygiene / Legionella; training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive plumbing maintenance.
• Repair mains water systems and pipework.
• Fault find and fix issues across the site.
• Complete inspections, water sampling, and basic risk checks.
• Identify and report deteriorating equipment.

Salary: £30,866 – £36,135 + 15% shift allowance (1 in 3 weekends)

Work pattern: Rota basis

• Saturday–Thursday: 08:00–17:00
• Friday: 08:00–16:00
• 1 in 3 weekends (with 15% allowance)

You’ll work as part of the onsite maintenance team, helping keep the prison safe, operational, and compliant.

The role
