Job summary

Amey is recruiting for an On-Site Plumber at HMP Risley in Warrington. The role is a single-site position with no travel involved, working 39 hours per week on a rotating rota. Salary ranges £30,866–£36,135 with a 15% shift allowance for weekends (1 in 3).

You will perform planned and reactive plumbing maintenance, repair mains water systems, fault-find, and conduct inspections and water sampling while ensuring safety and compliance across the site.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance, ideally in commercial/FM environments.
• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Basic knowledge of water hygiene / Legionella; training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive plumbing maintenance.
• Repair mains water systems and pipework.
• Fault find and fix issues across the site.
• Complete inspections, water sampling, and basic risk checks.
• Identify and report deteriorating equipment.

• Saturday–Thursday: 08:00–17:00
• Friday: 08:00–16:00
• 1 in 3 weekends (with 15% allowance)

We’re looking for a qualified Plumber to join the team at HMP Risley. This is a stable, long-term role on a single site with no travelling between jobs.

You’ll work as part of the onsite maintenance team, helping keep the prison safe, operational, and compliant.

The role

What You’ll Need

• NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing & Heating
