Job summary

Blue Cross is recruiting a Standby Pet Welfare Assistant for on-site services in Southampton. This zero hours contract role supports the Rehoming & Fostering team, caring for pets in kennels and assisting with assessments and rehabilitation plans to enable successful adoptions.

The role involves independent and team work, documenting conversations with owners and providing guidance on ongoing care and training. Priority is welfare and timely preparation for adoption.

Qualifications

• Experience with domestic animals or animal welfare environment.
• Proven ability to communicate clearly with clients and colleagues.
• Strong admin skills and comfort with computerised systems.

Responsibilities

• Care for pets in the preparation stage and support rehabilitation plans.
• Record information and advise owners in person or virtually.
• Work with Adoptions Coordinator to brief new owners on care and training.
