Job summary

Blue Cross in Southampton is seeking a Standby Pet Welfare Assistant for our on-site services. This zero-hours role supports the Rehoming & Fostering team, helping care for pets in our kennels and preparing them for adoption.

You will assess pets, follow rehabilitation plans, record information, advise owners, and work with the Adoptions Coordinator. Overnight shifts may occur; accommodation on site is provided.

Qualifications

• Experience with domestic animals or in an animal welfare setting.
• Customer-focused environment with a goal of high satisfaction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisational and administration skills, including computers.
• Current full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare pets for adoption stage and assessments.
• Record information and advise owners; complete paperwork.
• Work with Adoptions Coordinator to provide training and medical guidance.
• Occasional night checks or on-site overnight accommodation duties.
