Job summary

UK Research and Innovation seeks a Mechanical Facilities Engineer for the Harwell site. The role focuses on installation, maintenance and fault-finding across HVAC, piping and building services to support scientific programmes on site.

It is a full-time, on-site post within the Engineering and Estates Department. You will work 36 hours per week, report to Building Services Supervisors, and participate in planned and reactive works with training provided for Legionella and related safety tasks.

Qualifications

• Recognised mechanical qualification (City & Guilds Level 2/3) in HVAC/Plumbing & Heating.
• Two years post-qualification experience in mechanical facilities engineering.
• UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Undertake installation, operation, fault-finding and maintenance of mechanical building services (HVAC, water systems, steam, pipes).
• Carry out work via mobile work app and sign-off completed tasks.
• Procure materials and manage stock levels for efficiency.
• Support site condition surveys and compliance tasks (Legionella, boiler water sampling).
• Provide mentoring within the Building Services team and assist apprentices.
