Job summary

The Health & Safety Advisor at Trant Engineering Ltd provides hands-on, site-based support across all aspects of health and safety at the Fawley Refinery. Working closely with on-site teams and the client, they help build a strong, positive safety culture while ensuring compliance with legal requirements to prevent accidents and ill health.

As a subject-matter expert, they advise management on hazards, legislation, and safety equipment, and play a key role during shutdowns to deliver the project

Qualifications

• Experience in a SHE or H&S role within engineering, construction, utilities, water, or energy sectors.
• Working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation.
• Experience across multiple sites or projects.
• Proven ability to identify, analyse, and mitigate workplace hazards.
• Experience in developing and monitoring safety procedures, conducting audits, and maintaining records.
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
• CertIOSH or working towards.
• NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or NVQ Level 6 Diploma or IOSH Level 6 Diploma or working towards.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on, site-based health & safety management support across all aspects of health and safety.
• Advise management on hazards, legislation, and selection of safety equipment.
• Lead or support incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Support safety training, site inspections, audits, and documentation.
• Promote continuous safety improvements and behavioural safety practices.
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 and HSE regulations.
• Prepare monthly SHE performance reports.
