Job summary

Referment is working with a leading specialist contractor to appoint a Health & Safety Advisor supporting major construction projects across the Oxford and Reading area. This is a fully site-based role for an experienced Health & Safety professional who thrives on being visible on projects and helping to maintain high standards across complex construction environments.

You will provide practical advice, carry out inspections and audits, investigate incidents and ensure that health and safety

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years' experience in a Health & Safety role within a construction environment.
• Experience in civil engineering, reinforced concrete, infrastructure or structural construction is valuable.
• Qualified in health and safety, ideally NEBOSH Construction or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and construction industry requirements.
• Confident to challenge unsafe practices and influence teams at all levels.
• Full UK driving licence; able to work on site five days per week in the Oxford and Reading area.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day health and safety guidance to site and project teams.
• Carry out regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
• Support development and implementation of project-specific health and safety plans.
• Review risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and unsafe practices; identify corrective actions.
• Deliver briefings and workforce engagement on health and safety matters.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance and promote high safety standards.
• Produce clear reports and contribute to safety performance improvements.
