Job summary

Rheinmetall REUK in Newport seeks a Senior Maintenance & Compliance Operative to lead on-site maintenance, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and support ISO 45001/ISO 14001 management systems. You will deliver planned maintenance, coordinate repairs, and drive continuous improvement across facilities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of building maintenance and facilities management practices.
• Understanding of statutory compliance requirements within commercial facilities.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
• Understanding of risk assessments and permit-to-work systems.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.
• Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across buildings, plant, equipment, and fixtures.
• Diagnose faults and carry out timely corrective actions.
• Maintain building fabric (walls, flooring, doors, windows, fencing) and carry out basic plumbing, carpentry, and decorating.
• Support refurbishments, workspace alterations, and equipment installation/relocation.
• Support compliance across EICR, emergency lighting, fire alarms/extinguishers/doors, HVAC, water hygiene/Legionella, lifting equipment, pressure systems, and building safety systems.
• Monitor compliance schedules, certification, and inspection deadlines.
• Assist in closing actions from audits, inspections, and enforcement notices.
• Support implementation of H&S and Environmental management systems.
• Participate in workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
• Report and investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
• Support waste management, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives.
