Job summary

Lawton (Building Engineering Services) Limited is seeking a full-time, on-site Electrician based in Oxford to install, maintain and repair electrical systems in commercial and industrial buildings.

You will read technical drawings, wire and cabling, test installations, diagnose faults, and perform scheduled and reactive maintenance while ensuring safety and compliance with UK regulations. Collaboration with engineers and other trades is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in electricity principles and practical electrical work.
• Experience in maintenance and repair of electrical systems and components.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical faults and diagnosing system issues.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering concepts relevant to building services.
• Recognized electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
• Valid industry certifications and up-to-date knowledge of UK electrical regulations (e.g., BS 7671).
• Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and specifications accurately.
• Strong attention to safety and ability to work to health and safety standards and risk assessments.
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to sites around Oxford.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment within commercial and industrial buildings.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring and cabling diagrams, and specifications.
• Test and inspect electrical installations and diagnose faults.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform scheduled and reactive maintenance.
• Ensure work areas are safe, compliant and meet regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors and other trades to complete projects on time.
