Job summary

Amey Group Services LTD is seeking an on-site Electrician for HMP Berwyn in Wrexham. 39 hours per week, Mon-Fri 7:30am-4:30pm with 1 in 5 weekends and a 15% shift allowance. The role involves maintenance, testing, and safe operation within the prison environment.

Previous experience with planned maintenance is preferred; Level 3 is ideal, but Level 2 candidates may be interviewed. You will ensure safety standards, inspect installations, and support the BMS system.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or 3 electrical qualification required or preferred.
• Experience with planned preventative maintenance is advantageous.
• On-site experience within a secure environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health & Safety standards are met across the contract.
• Test and inspect electrical installations in line with current IEE wiring regulations.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and carry out work safely and efficiently.
• Perform planned and preventative electrical maintenance and diagnose faults.
• Fault-find and resolve issues on domestic electrical systems.
• Undertake electrical installation activities per designs and IET Wiring Regulations.
• Monitor and order spares for electrical services and oversee the BMS system.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an on-site Electrician in HMP Berwyn, 139 Bridge Rd, Wrexham LL13 9QE

The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week (shift pattern - Mon-Fri 7:30am -16:30pm)

1 in 5 weekends with a 15% shift allowance

At Amey, we're supporting our justice client, His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons.

By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.

The Electrician plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.

Previous experience with planned preventative maintenance is preferred but not essential. While a Level 3 qualification is preferred, we are open to interviewing candidates with a Level 2 qualification

What you will do:

• Ensuring Health & Safety standards are met across the contract
• Testing and inspecting electrical installations in line with current IEE wiring regulations
• Responding promptly to breakdowns, ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently
• Performing planned and preventative electrical maintenance and diagnosing/replacing failed domestic electrical components
• Actively fault finding and problem solving on domestic electrical systems
• Undertaking electrical installation activities according to provided designs and IET Wiring Regulations
• Monitoring and ordering critical spares for all electrical services, and oversee the BMS System
