Job summary

Amey is seeking an on-site General Building Engineer at HMP Morton Hall in Lincoln. You will deliver planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring safety, compliance and a secure environment for staff and residents, working a 39-hour week with a weekend rota on a three-week cycle.

The role offers a salary between £28,792 and £31,792, plus a 15% weekend allowance, with generous benefits including a pension, training opportunities, 24 holidays plus bank holidays, and access to our flexible benefits.

Qualifications

• Maintenance experience across areas such as fire safety systems and alarms.
• Experience with emergency-lighting testing and residual current devices.
• Understanding of water-temperature testing and related compliance.
• Good IT skills to update maintenance records and use facilities management systems.
• Proactive safety-focused approach and ability to work in a team.
• Flexibility to participate in weekend rota (one-in-three).

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned and reactive building maintenance safely and in line with compliance requirements.
• Maintain essential fire safety systems and related components.
• Complete scheduled testing of emergency lighting and RCDs; record results.
• Carry out water-temperature testing and related compliance activities.
• Maintain security and other general maintenance tasks; support CMMS processes.
• Ensure availability of critical parts for statutory maintenance.
