Job summary

Nscale is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the design process for Norway projects, based on-site in Narvik. You will coordinate across design, construction, cost, and in-country teams to ensure world-class standards, on-schedule delivery and budget adherence for high-density AI compute facilities.

You will oversee design packages, ensure code compliance, and collaborate with technology partners to deliver scalable, efficient, and innovative infrastructure, including liquid cooling

Qualifications

• Experienced design manager, preferably in data centre, mission-critical, or high-performance computing projects.
• Technically strong – deep knowledge of MEP systems, high-density power, and infrastructure for AI compute.
• Collaborative – comfortable across teams and time zones, including remote and hybrid models.
• Multilingual – fluency in English required; Norwegian preferred, other European languages advantageous.
• Digitally fluent – proficient with Procore/EDMS, Revit, Navisworks, and BIM-based workflows.
• Startup-ready – flexible, proactive, and ready to help build world-leading AI systems, culture, and scale.

Responsibilities

• Involvement in full lifecycle of data centre and infrastructure design from concept to construction drawings.
• Review design packages for code compliance, constructability, and performance; identify risks and implement changes.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align design with objectives and project needs.
• Involvement in permitting processes coordinating with local consultants.
• Design and adapt facilities for advanced compute clusters, high-power electrical infra, and liquid cooling solutions.
• Manage internal alignment and consultant teams to deliver cohesive design outputs.
• Maintain project schedules, deliverable tracking, and documentation workflows using BIM and cloud tools.
