Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Out of Hours Call Out Operative to join a Local Authority Highways Team in Swindon. You will respond to emergency highway call-outs during nights, weekends and bank holidays, assist in roadside repairs, traffic management, and safety measures across the network.

The role requires a full UK driving licence and experience in highways maintenance or civil engineering.

Qualifications

Full UK Driving Licence (Category B, C1 or BE).
Experience in highways maintenance, civil engineering, construction or groundworks.
Understanding of highway maintenance and emergency repair works.

Responsibilities

Respond to emergency highway call-outs on a rota basis.
Attend incidents within 30 minutes of being called out.
Assist in making the highway safe after emergencies, including repairs and traffic management.
Carry out emergency repairs such as potholes, flooding, spills and road defects.
Install and remove traffic management per Chapter 8 requirements.
Operate hand tools, plant and machinery safely and efficiently.
Maintain accurate records, timesheets and material usage.
Ensure sites are left safe, clean and compliant.
Support emergency responses as directed by Highway Inspectors.
