Job summary

Shared Services Partnership is seeking an on‑call firefighter to respond to a range of emergencies and protect community assets. While not on duty, you may have everyday life and jobs, but when pager sounds you become a professional firefighter.

You will be trained through a comprehensive programme and will work alongside frontline personnel to save lives, support safety, and engage with local residents to promote fire safety and resilience.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic and willing to commit time to the fire and rescue service.
• Must be able to reach the fire station quickly and safely after being alerted.
• Physical fitness is essential; the role can be physically demanding.
• No previous firefighting experience is required; a comprehensive training programme will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Respond to a variety of emergency incidents, including fires, flooding, co‑respondence, road accidents, chemical spills and animal retrievals.
• Attend community events to promote fire safety and build relationships with local residents.
• Work closely with other team members during emergencies, enhancing teamwork and effectiveness.
