Job summary

Suffolk County Council, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service is recruiting On-Call Firefighters to join our emergency response team. You will deal with fires, road traffic collisions and a wide range of emergencies, providing cover across the county.

On-Call Firefighters are a vital part of our service, typically located in rural communities and small towns. The role offers flexible hours, a pension scheme, uniform and PPE, and opportunities for training and career development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years old with no upper age limit.
• Live or work within 5–8 minutes of a Suffolk fire station.
• Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to personal transport.
• Be physically fit and able to operate at heights and in confined spaces.
• Be able to be released from main employment to attend incidents.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fires, road traffic collisions and a range of emergencies.
• Provide emergency cover across the county during set hours.
• Work as part of a team and develop skills for independent deployment.
