Job summary

Empowering Learning is seeking On-Call Behaviour Support staff to work in secondary schools across Oldham. You will work alongside class teachers to support students with behavioural and pastoral needs, building positive relationships and encouraging engagement with learning.

Ideal candidates are confident, resilient and patient, with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations. Enhanced DBS on Update Service and two professional references are required, with the right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Two professional references covering recent employment.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside class teachers to support students with behavioural and pastoral needs.
• Build positive relationships and rapport with students to encourage engagement and positive behaviour.
• Provide immediate support when a student is struggling to remain in the classroom.
• Encourage students to remain in lessons and re-engage with their learning wherever possible.
• Accompany students to an appropriate alternative classroom or designated area when they need to be removed from a lesson.
• Help students regulate their behaviour and emotions before supporting them to return to learning.
• Respond to on-call requests from teaching staff throughout the school day.
• Support the school in maintaining a calm, safe and positive learning environment.
• Follow the school's behaviour, safeguarding and on-call procedures at all times.
• Communicate effectively with teachers and pastoral staff regarding student behaviour and progress.
