Job summary

Defence and Space Limited in Stevenage seeks a Software Engineer to design and develop software for vehicle functions and data management on ESA projects, with hybrid working options.

The role requires embedded C/Java development, Linux-based integration, and collaboration across teams. A security clearance (SC) is required to join the programme.

Qualifications

• Proficient in software design and development in resource-constrained embedded environments (C/Java).
• Experience in Linux-based development, integration and debugging on complex systems.
• Familiarity with development tools such as VSCode, Eclipse, JIRA, Git and Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Analyse complex relationships and implement On-Board software solutions for future satellite programs.
• Create concepts for software changes and new development based on project docs (Development Plan, System Requirements, Architecture Design Document).
• Support all phases of the software life cycle from requirements through acceptance of a software solution.
• Participate in unit and system integration tests and hardware/software integration tests.

the company Defence and Space is looking for a Software Engineer to join our team in Stevenage to design and develop software products for the vehicle functions and data management (networks, avionics and open platforms) systems and software

Working on ESA projects, you will be supported in learning about how your software integrates with the satellite and how satellites function.

Depending on your aspirations, the Career opportunities for this role can be : Software Expert, Software Delivery Manager, Responsible Software Developer, Team Lead or Project Manager

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM

• Analysis of complex relationships and implementation in On Board software solutions for future satellite programs
• Concept creation for software changes and new development implementation based on the project context and applicable documents (Development Plan, System Requirements Specification, Architecture Design Document, Validation Plan, Verification Plan, …)
• Support in all phases of a Software life
• cycle process, from the creation of requirements to the acceptance of a software solution
• Participation in the creation of unit & (sub) system integration tests and hardware / software integration tests

ABOUT YOU

• Proficient in software design and development in a resource constrained / embedded environment using C or Java
• Proficient in design, development and integration on Linux environment
• Experience of software integration, performance test and debug at the hardware level when dealing with complex systems
• Experience in requirements analysis and corresponding realisation/implementation
• Knowledge of software development tools such as VSCode, Eclipse, JIRA, git, Jenkins,
• Ideally experience in Space/On board Software environment and associated process
