Purpose of Role: Accountable for managing a clear pathway through the complexities of the future form and function of offshore wind, driven by challenges such as deeper waters, opportunities to improve performance and operation, and interaction with the broader energy system. As a senior manager, the role will foster collaboration both externally with industry, innovation bodies, and academia, and internally with energy policy colleagues and adjacent sectors including hydrogen, new energies, and transmission. You will also work closely with our Marine Strategy and Planning and Technical teams, considering inputs to and feedback from TCE's Marine Delivery Routemap, with an understanding of innovation pathways related to future siting of OSW and benefits to the UK economy, including local supply chains, in partnership with team members.

To strengthen the existing marine spatial planning capabilities, the Offshore Wind Innovation Manager will bring authoritative knowledge of innovation and technological aspects to ensure The Crown Estate remains at the forefront of sector evolution, supporting testing, demonstration, seabed leasing, and other catalytic activities to mobilize the UK’s full potential in the global market.

Main accountabilities:

1. Define and oversee The Crown Estate's role within the OSW sector innovation space, acting as the core interface for wider energy system integration.
2. Foster collaboration with relevant energy sector teams, including transmission, energy policy, and Supply Chain & Regions Manager, assessing implications of energy system and policy changes for OSW.
3. Communicate effectively with stakeholders and OSW customers, conveying energy system and policy implications using the Key Account Model.
4. Work with strategic delivery and sector leads to manage system integration within OSW, focusing on grid, energy storage, and hydrogen integration.
5. Provide expertise and coordinate relations with industry stakeholders and customers on energy systems and innovation, aligning with wider OSW sector goals.
6. Drive innovation efforts within the OSW sector, leveraging technological insights to promote sustainability.
7. Lead engagement with advisory services, overseeing contract management, negotiations, and execution of agreements.

Knowledge, skills & Experience:

• Proven senior management/leadership experience in systems integration, innovation management, and stakeholder engagement, preferably in renewable energy or power systems sectors.
• Strong understanding of energy systems and policy dynamics, with implications for the future of OSW.
• Proficiency in technological insights and sector knowledge, with a keen interest in innovation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
• Effective management of technical advisory services to deliver impact and value for money.
