Job summary

Simply Blue Energy is seeking a Costs Analyst in Bristol to support offshore wind project economics. You will develop and maintain project cost books covering DEVEX, CAPEX, OPEX and DECEX, and build central cost libraries to inform business cases and investment decisions.

You will benchmark costs, challenge deviations from benchmarks, and provide cost insights to procurement, engineering and commercial teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in technical or data analytics with at least 5 years’ relevant experience
• Experience as cost engineer or manager on infrastructure projects with lifecycle cost estimating across DEVEX, CAPEX, OPEX and DECEX
• Knowledge of cost management standards and best practice
• Excellent organisation skills with ability to manage own workload, meet timescales and coordinate stakeholders
• Excellent communication skills enabling effective discussion and transfer of information
• Advanced Excel and cost-modelling capability
• Ability to create and communicate complex cost information clearly in Fluent English
• Ability to work as a member of a large, multidisciplinary and international team

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust project cost books covering DEVEX, CAPEX, OPEX and DECEX
• Develop and continually improve central cost libraries, methodologies, tools and analytical capabilities
• Maintain an up-to-date, industry-benchmarked view of offshore wind costs across the project WBS
• Establish and maintain auditable cost data, assumptions, methodologies and version control
• Critically assess cost estimates, challenging deviations from benchmarks and trends
• Collaborate with leads, procurement and external advisors to refine cost estimates
• Ensure cost books are maintained at system, sub-system and component/activity level
• Lead cost-benefit analyses to inform project strategy and investment decisions
• Ensure cost books support business cases, financial close and due diligence
• Provide cost insights from procurement activity and external benchmarks
• Integrate cost information with business case modelling with commercial teams
• Support wind farm design and EYA analysis to inform cost effectiveness
• Maintain understanding of project economics and design impacts on costs
• Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and value improvement
• Interface across project functions and support governance reviews
• Prepare professional reports and briefings for internal and external audiences
