Job summary

North Star Shipping is seeking a QHSSE Advisor to join its safety-focused team, working with vessel crews, operational leaders and technical specialists to strengthen safety and performance across ERRVs, MRSVs and PSVs. You will be out engaging with vessel teams, travel across the fleet, investigate incidents, lead audits and promote a proactive safety culture to ensure people return home safely every day.

Qualifications

• Experience in QHSSE, assurance, compliance or operational safety.
• Knowledge of maritime operations and relevant industry standards.
• Strong investigation and root cause analysis capability.
• Confidence engaging with people at all levels of the organisation.
• A pragmatic and solutions-focused mindset.
• The credibility to challenge constructively and support operational teams in equal measure.

Responsibilities

• Drive assurance activities across vessel and shore operations.
• Lead and support audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
• Investigate incidents and identify opportunities to strengthen operational performance.
• Support risk management and help embed effective controls throughout the business.
• Work directly with vessel crews to promote a proactive safety culture and Just Culture principles.
• Analyse trends, identify emerging risks and influence meaningful change.
• Support emergency preparedness and operational resilience across the fleet.
• Build trusted relationships with regulators, clients, auditors and operational leaders.
