Job summary
WSP in the UK & Ireland is looking for a professionally qualified Electrical Engineer (CEng or working towards) to join our offshore transmission team focused on HVDC projects through all lifecycle stages.
You will provide expert technical advice for HVDC OEM design reviews, witness factory testing, on-site inspections, commissioning, and develop specifications for HVDC converters. The role supports hybrid working across UK offices.
Qualifications
- CEng or working towards it is required or highly desirable.
- Demonstrable understanding of HVDC station engineering, control & protection and system studies.
- Ability to coordinate across project disciplines and external subcontractors to mitigate technical risks.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical advice for HVDC OEM design reviews.
- Witness HVDC OEM factory testing, on-site inspections, and commissioning.
- Develop HVDC projects including technology review, selection and bid preparation.
- Develop technical specifications for HVDC converters.
- Design primary plant layouts for HVDC converter stations.
- Coordinate with client project teams and internal disciplines.
