Job summary

Our client, a leading renewables company, is seeking a Geophysical Engineer to join their Aberdeen team on a permanent basis. You will conduct geophysical surveys using Sub-bottom Imagers and Acoustic Corers and interpret data from sub-bottom profilers, multibeam echosounders, magnetometers and side-scan sonars.

You will work closely with the Director, Geoscience to ensure guidelines are followed and communicated to the team, contribute to post-survey reporting, and support rigorous quality

Qualifications

• Proficiency in conducting geophysical surveys and working with survey data.
• Experience with equipment such as sub-bottom profilers, multibeam echosounders, and magnetometers.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex geophysical data.
• Understanding of offshore and onshore survey operations.
• Valid OGUK offshore medical certificate
• Valid BOSIET and/or GWO offshore survival certificates
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Relevant degree in geophysics, geology, or a related field

Responsibilities

• Conducting geophysical surveys using a range of equipment such as Sub-bottom Imagers (SBI) and Acoustic Corers (AC)
• Interpreting datasets from sub-bottom profilers, multibeam echosounders, magnetometers, and side scan sonars
• Ensuring the use of proper survey methods and techniques to gather accurate and reliable geophysical data
• Working closely with the Director, Geoscience to ensure all guidelines are adhered to and communicated effectively to the team
• Contributing to post-survey interpretation and reporting while maintaining high standards of accuracy
• Assisting in the prevention of inadequate project performance through rigorous supervision and quality control
• Managing and maintaining equipment to ensure operational readiness for surveys
• Collaborating with team members to enhance survey techniques and methodologies
