Job summary

Matchtech Group on behalf of a client in the renewables sector is seeking a Freelance Geoscientist for a contract role, working offshore on geophysical surveys and onshore for post-survey data interpretation.

You will perform data QC, integrate diverse datasets, interpret sub-bottom profiles and acoustic data, and produce detailed reports for project deliverables with stakeholders.

Qualifications

Job description

Our client, a distinguished entity in the renewables sector, is currently seeking a skilled Freelance Geoscientist to join their team on a contract basis. This role involves working both offshore on geophysical surveys and onshore in post-survey data interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting data QC and coverage tasks during offshore geophysical surveys
• Integrating various datasets into geophysical interpretations to produce deliverables
• Interpreting data from sub-bottom imagers and acoustic corers
• Assessing geophysical data from sub-bottom profilers, multibeam echosounders, magnetometers, and side scan sonars
• Collaborating with project teams and stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and quality of survey results
• Producing detailed reports and documentation for project deliverables

Job Requirements:

• Experience in conducting geophysical surveys, particularly in the offshore renewables sector
• Proficiency with geophysical survey equipment such as sub-bottom profilers, multibeam echosounders, magnetometers, and side scan sonars
• Proven track record of compiling and interpreting geophysical data
• Certifications: Valid OGUK offshore medical certificate, BOSIET offshore survival certificate, and GWO offshore survival certificate
• Understanding of marine geophysical survey scopes, including cable route surveys, offshore wind farm surveys, and pipeline route surveys
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred Experience:

• Previous roles with survey contractors such as Fugro, Gardline, Ocean Infinity, Beam, Reach Subsea, or DeepOcean
• Prior involvement in complex geophysical projects within the marine geophysical sector
• Previous work with PanGeo Subsea or Kraken Robotics is a plus
