Office and HR Administrator

Location: Gateshead Team Valley, UK

Reports to: Head of People

Direct Reports: N/A

Biscuit International UK is the leading specialist supplier of own-label gluten-free biscuits and cookies in the United Kingdom. Located in Gateshead, our production facility operates three lines, with an annual output exceeding 4,300 tonnes in plain, chocolate, and sandwich biscuit formats. We are part of Biscuit International, Europe's leading private label biscuit and bread substitute manufacturer, with over 400 years of expertise in delivering excellent taste at great value.

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Office and HR Administrator to join our team. The role involves managing daily administrative tasks, supporting the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), maintaining employee documentation, and ensuring compliance with HR legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate office activities, ensuring health and safety standards are met, managing supplies, scheduling meetings, and providing administrative support to SLT, including minute-taking.
  2. Handle incoming calls, support visitors, manage documentation, and facilitate room requirements.
  3. Organize in-house or off-site events, liaise with managers to maintain standards, manage vendors, organize catering, and oversee meeting rooms.
  4. Perform HR administrative tasks, support recruitment inductions, process invitations, and maintain trackers and reports.
  5. Maintain HR records, process new starters and leavers, support audits, and ensure employee documentation is up-to-date, including right-to-work and health assessments.

Skills & Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in HR administration.
  • Understanding of basic employment law.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail.
  • Confident communication skills with employees at all levels.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Experience in food manufacturing and HR training related to employment legislation is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
