Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Prison Offender Manager to oversee a caseload of prisoners, drive sentence progression and manage risks from custody to community. You’ll work within the OMiC model, collaborating with prison staff, probation services and external partners, with structured development in the first 6–9 months.

You will assess risks, prepare plans, support pre-release activities and contribute to safeguarding and public protection while driving rehabilitation goals.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build positive professional relationships across the prison.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage, motivate and encourage prisoners to change.
• Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to organise, manage and prioritise a demanding workload.
• Flexible and proactive approach, with a commitment to continuous learning and adapting to change.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial interviews and assess risks and needs of prisoners entering custody.
• Complete OASys assessments, BCST 1, sentence plans, intervention referrals and resettlement plans.
• Ensure public protection and safeguarding procedures are followed.
• Liaise with prison colleagues, probation services and external stakeholders.
• Support pre-release planning, resettlement activities and handovers to community probation teams.
• Prepare parole and recall documentation, MAPPA reports and categorisation recommendations.
• Complete ROTL risk assessments.
• Coordinate with Home Office Immigration Enforcement regarding foreign national prisoners.
• Set meaningful goals and targets to encourage positive behavioural change and reduce reoffending.
• Support rehabilitation provision and non-accredited programmes.
