Job summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust invites applications for a Fellow post in Ophthalmology with special interest in Oculoplastics at the Western Eye Hospital. This is a fixed-term 12-month post within the oculoplastic service and there may be opportunity for sub-specialist work.

Applicants must have MBBS or equivalent, be GMC registered with a license to practice, and have at least four years training in ophthalmology; NHS experience is required.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent and GMC license to practice.
• At least 4 years of ophthalmology training.
• Must have current or previous NHS experience.

Responsibilities

• Out-patient care of adnexal patients including trauma, eyelid, orbital and lacrimal disorders in adults and children.
• Involved in ad hoc eyelid trauma and emergencies; available for advice off site.
• Undertake A&E sessions at the Western Eye Hospital, up to once a week unless paid separately.
• Maintain good communication with GPs, optometrists, hospital clinicians and other allied professionals.
• Manage Individual Funding Request applications.
• Provide teaching to medical students and junior doctors and optometrists.
• Assist in academic and pharmaceutical research within the department.
• Vet adnexal referrals.
• Assist in the management and development of the clinical service.
