Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for a Consultant Ophthalmologist with Oculoplastics expertise. This NHS post is a substantive 8.0 programmed activity role, with flexible site working across UHD locations and opportunities in oculoplastics, lacrimal and cataract services.

The role includes leading a well-established service, high-volume periocular surgery, and participation in MDTs, with a commitment to research and ongoing clinical development.

Qualifications

• Must be on GMC Specialist Register for Ophthalmology with CCT/CCST or close to it within six months.
• Ability to supervise junior staff and provide on-the-job training.
• Ability to undertake independent cataract surgery.

Responsibilities

• Lead within the oculoplastic, lacrimal and cataract service with high-volume periocular procedures.
• Regular cataract clinics and theatre lists, including high-volume cases.
• Participate in MDT meetings and contribute to service development.
