Job summary

Priory Hospital Llanarth Court is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the team full-time, 37.5 hours per week, within a rural setting near Usk, Monmouthshire. The role supports patient independence and daily living skills through person-centred activities.

You will work with Occupational Therapists to deliver engaging interventions, monitor progress, and maintain accurate notes in a safe environment, with training and development opportunities available.

Qualifications

• GCSEs or O-Levels (grades A–C) or equivalent qualification.
• NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent practical experience.
• Entry-level role; previous health and social care experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Deliver group and one-to-one therapeutic and recreational activities across wards, hospital grounds and community.
• Assist patients to develop daily living skills (cooking, laundry, cleaning) and other life skills.
• Monitor patient progress and maintain accurate clinical notes and intervention documentation.
• Support reduction of restrictive interventions and assist in managing incidents of violence when required.

Llanarth Court is looking for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the team full-time, working 37.5 hours per week.

Priory Hospital Llanarth Court, located in the rural area of Usk, Monmouthshire, offers secure services for adult males and females. We provide a specialist assessment and treatment service for people with mental health conditions who present with a variety of behaviours that challenge.

What you'll be doing

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will work closely with Occupational Therapists and the wider Therapy Team to deliver engaging, person-centred interventions that support patients in developing independence, building confidence and improving their everyday living skills.

• Support the delivery of group and one-to-one therapeutic and recreational activities across the wards, hospital grounds and community.
• Help patients develop essential daily living skills, including cooking, laundry and cleaning, as well as more complex life skills and routines.
• Monitor and evaluate patient progress, maintaining accurate clinical notes and documentation of interventions.
• Support the reduction of restrictive interventions and assist in managing incidents of violence and aggression when required, promoting a safe and supportive environment.

Candidates must have GCSEs or O-Levels (grades A–C), a relevant NVQ Level 2 qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
