Job summary

Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust seeks an Occupational Therapy apprentice to join Kingfisher Court. You will work within a large OT service, supporting individuals and groups under supervision, and contribute to care planning and meaningful activities.

You will develop skills in assessments, independent group work, and collaboration with arts therapists, physio, and psychology across a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• A Levels and/or Health and Social Care NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
• Experience of running groups would be advantageous.
• Ability to work autonomously with service users and carers.

Responsibilities

• Form part of a supportive therapy team to provide OT services alongside a multidisciplinary team.
• Carry out individual work and facilitate activity group interventions with service users.
• Plan and facilitate occupational groups guided by an Occupational Therapist.
• Work 1:1 with service users on specific tasks and therapeutic activities.
• Carry out OT assessments and contribute to care plans.
• Promote engagement in meaningful occupation and ensure interventions align with Trust standards and values.
• Work within the OT service at Kingfisher Court and other wards as required, including basic assessments and group work.

Job description

• You will form part of the supportive therapy team, working at Kingfisher Court to provide the OT service alongside a multidisciplinary team including arts therapists, physio, horticultural therapists, psychology.
• You will be supported by an experienced Occupational Therapists and the rest of the team to carry out specific individual work and facilitate a range of activity group interventions.
• You will need to be able to work independently with Service Users to support them in developing and expanding their roles and routines. Experience of running groups would be advantageous.
• Regular training opportunities will be available to build your skills in these areas and we encourage people to apply for the Occupational Therapy apprenticeship which is run at the university of Hertfordshire.
• You will be part of a large and well established OT service and also link regularly with peers and other OT staff across the trust, To plan and facilitate occupational groups guided by an Occupational Therapist.
• To work individually with service users on specific tasks and therapeutic activity guided by an Occupational Therapist.
• To carry our specific Occupational Therapy assessments as guided by an Occupational Therapist.
• To promote a culture of engagement in meaningful occupation within the service in order to enhance quality of life.
• To provide interventions in the manner that is consistent with Trust standards and values.
• To work within the OT team to provide therapy provision within Kingfisher Court and other acute wards as required. To be able to offer basic assessments to help identify occupational need and to contribute to peoples care plans. To provide 1:1 work and group work with service users, and to be able to work both independently and as part of a team. • To work and liaise with other statutory and non-statutory service providers involved in service user care and Treatment. Knowledge of Occupational Therapy role within setting

Desirable criteria

• Qualification in relevant area, Experience of working with people with learning disabilities and/or mental health problems
• Experience of leading groups and 1:1 interventions
• Ability to work autonomously
