Job summary

Cardiff Council is seeking an Occupational Therapist for the Specialist Accommodation Gateway to provide functional, environmental and clinical advice for accommodation decisions. You will assess home environments, support discharge planning and contribute to multidisciplinary panel discussions to promote safe, independent living.

You will work within a dynamic team, liaising with social care, housing and health colleagues, while ensuring records are accurate and aligned across systems.

Qualifications

• You will hold a full driving licence and have the use of a car for work purposes.
• Welsh language abilities would be advantageous for this role.
• Strong teamwork, clear communication and sound judgement are essential in a multidisciplinary setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist functional, environmental and clinical advice to support fair, lawful and needs-led accommodation decisions.
• Assess individuals and home environments to determine safe return home with adaptations or alternative accommodation.
• Contribute to Gateway Panel meetings with expert advice on mobility, accessibility and equipment.
• Record assessments and decisions clearly and align them across systems; support process development.
• Collaborate with Gateway colleagues, social care and health partners to strengthen pathways and outcomes.
• Support discharge planning, crisis prevention and longer-term housing outcomes.
