Job summary

Stockport Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Equipment and Adaptations Team within Adult Social Care. You will assess adults with diverse needs and identify equipment and minor adaptations that promote independence, safety and wellbeing, balancing risk with practical solutions.

The role requires HCPC registration, strong clinical reasoning, and the ability to work in a busy, collaborative team across home and community settings.

Qualifications

• Qualified occupational therapist registered with HCPC.
• Experience in Community, Health or Adult Social Care settings.
• Ability to assess and identify solutions to promote independence.
• Experience recommending equipment and adaptations.
• Ability to balance risk with independence.
• Knowledge of Care Act 2014.

Responsibilities

• Undertake holistic and functional assessments for adults.
• Identify equipment and minor adaptations to promote independence, safety and wellbeing.
• Explore options such as self-management, community resources and technology-enabled care.
• Recommend equipment and minor adaptations before considering more complex interventions.
• Apply professional judgement and balance risk with independence in care planning.
