Job summary

mbi Medical Ltd is seeking an Occupational Therapist to assess equipment and adaptation needs for Service Users, provide information, and arrange discharge equipment. The role involves coordinating with NHS, housing, and charities to secure funding and ensure best patient outcomes.

You will liaise with architects and service users to approve plans, maintain CPD, and stay current with moving and handling practices to train care staff.

Responsibilities

• Assess needs of ill and disabled Service Users for equipment or adaptations.
• Provide information and advice.
• Provide assessments for Service Users returning from hospital or nursing homes and provide equipment to facilitate discharge.
• Obtain funding from other agencies such as charities, NHS and other Social Services Teams.
• Liaise with architects and Service Users to approve adaptation plans and coordinate further processing.
• Collaborate with Housing, NHS, voluntary organizations to maximise information dissemination.
• Negotiate with Service Users and agencies about providing adaptations within budgetary needs.
• Ensure completed adaptations meet assessed needs and provide equipment as appropriate.
• Assess for equipment provision to alleviate effects of disability.
• Stay updated on OT equipment developments and arrange home visits when appropriate.
• Keep up-to-date with moving and handling knowledge to train care staff.
• Assess Service Users for rehabilitation and refer to relevant agency.
• Pursue Continuing Professional Development and maintain portfolio for HCPC registration.
• Undertake such work as determined by the Director/Corporate Manager, within the Borough of Cheshire East.
