Job summary

East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Specialist Occupational Therapist to lead the OT team across community hospitals and support the development of a new ward at Clacton Hospital. The role links with acute and community therapy colleagues, TOCH and community prescribers.

You will oversee the rotation and development of Band 6 staff, plan OT needs, and ensure high-quality care while fostering staff training, wellbeing, and efficient patient pathways.

Qualifications

• Autonomous practitioner with professional accountability
• Ability to mentor and supervise OT staff
• Interdisciplinary collaboration with physiotherapy and community teams

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage OT team at Community Hospitals, including supervision and rotation of Band 6s.
• Plan OT capacity for new ward at Clacton Hospital and support rapid assessment and discharge planning.
• Provide complex occupational therapy assessments and formulate treatment plans.
• Contribute to departmental on-call rota and develop pathways from acute to community care.
