Job summary

Sanctuary Personnel is seeking an Occupational Therapist in Manchester specializing in Children's Housing Adaptations for a locum role starting October 2026. The position offers hybrid work, with three days remote and two days in the office, at an hourly rate up to £35.

You will conduct city-wide assessments and deliver customised equipment and major adaptations to support children with disabilities. HCPC registration is essential, and driving is encouraged for travel across Manchester.

Responsibilities

• Conduct city-wide assessments for children requiring complex and customised equipment and home adaptations.
• Perform Moving and Handling risk assessments and provide training to parents and carers.
• Advise on specialist seating for children with complex postural needs (0–18 years).
• Carry out safety assessments to create safe spaces, including fencing, padded rooms, locks, and specialist beds.
• Evaluate and recommend major adaptations such as Through Floor Lifts and additional toilets or baths.

As an Occupational Therapist in this role, you will carry out city-wide assessments for children requiring complex and customised equipment along with minor and major adaptations. The MEAP team conducts home assessments for children with both physical and hidden disabilities, ensuring their environments facilitate best living practices.

What you will do:

• Conduct thorough Moving and Handling risk assessments and deliver training to parents and carers.
• Advise on specialist seating to support children with complex postural needs ranging from 0 to 18 years.
• Perform complex safety assessments to create safe spaces for children, considering options like fencing, padded rooms, locks, and specialist beds.
• Evaluate and recommend major adaptations such as Through Floor Lifts, additional toilets, specialist baths, showers, and other essential bathing equipment.
• To qualify for this role, you must be registered with the HCPC. Being a car driver is essential for navigating the city's diverse home settings and providing thorough assessments across Manchester.
