Job summary

West Berkshire Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Social Care Service. You will provide high‑quality assessments and interventions to promote independence and participation in daily activities, reporting to the Team Leader.

  • HCPC registration required.

About The Role

As an Occupational Therapist within the Adult Social Care Service, you will be responsible for providing high-quality assessments and interventions to support individuals in achieving their maximum independence and participation in daily activities. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of occupational needs, identifying barriers to independence and recommending appropriate interventions.
  • Providing advice, guidance, and support to service users, their families, and carers to enable them to make informed choices.
  • Collaborating with other professionals and agencies to ensure coordinated care and support for individuals.
  • Delivering interventions such as rehabilitation, adaptation, and assistive technology solutions to enhance independence.
  • Monitoring and reviewing progress, making adjustments to interventions as necessary.

In addition to the above responsibilities, you will also play a key role in contributing to the overall development and improvement of the service, participating in team meetings, and engaging in reflective practice.

About You
  • Qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration.
  • Experience working within an adult social care setting, ideally in a local authority environment.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practice guidelines.
  • Excellent assessment and intervention skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage a diverse caseload.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with service users, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
