Job summary

Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health Care NHS Trust in Worcester is seeking a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our mental health team on a long‑term placement. You will manage a caseload, use MOHO tools, and plan client-centred interventions to achieve therapeutic goals.

Applicants should have HCPC registration, a Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy, and a full driving licence. NHS Professionals offers weekly pay and flexible shifts as part of the bank workforce.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Title: Band 6 Occupational Therapist Reference: 90794 Trust: Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health Care NHS Trust Location: Kings Court, Charles Hastings Way, Worcester, Worcestershire, WR5 1JR Hours: 37.5 hours per week Pay Rates: £23.82 per hour (exc WTD)

What you can add:
  • Work with clients to identify occupational therapy goals as part of the overall care plan, using specialist mental health and occupational therapy assessment tools (MOHO tools).
  • Manage a caseload of clients with complex mental health needs (taking on the role of care co-ordinator and/or vocational lead where relevant).
  • Plan and implement client centred individual and/or group interventions using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
  • Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.
  • Apply a high level of understanding of the effect of disability and provide training and advice on lifestyle changes and adaptations to the client's social ad physical environment.
  • Assess the occupational needs of defined client group and establish and evaluate appropriate treatment programmes.
  • Provide a range of carer initiatives using psychoeducational approaches across the locality.
  • Provide education, consultation and advice to other care settings e.g. Nursing Homes, Primary Care and other specialist mental health services.
  • Have in depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act and implications on Occupational Therapy intervention.
  • Carry out complex risk assessment involving wide consultation and collaboration.
What you'll need:
  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • Current Health Professions Council registration
  • Specialist knowledge and application of occupational therapy assessments and interventions.
  • Current full driving licence - Able to meet the travel requirements of the role.
  • Significant post registration experience including experience within mental health
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Relevant Qualifications
  • Registration with the relevant Registration Body if applicable.

In addition to experience, all Qualified roles will be required to provide evidence of Relevant Qualifications and Registration with the relevant Registration Body if applicable. This is part of Regulation 22 and we want to ensure we give candidates the heads up to have their qualifications ready to prevent delays when we onboard at Trust ID stage.
