Job summary

Farmfield Hospital in Charlwood, Surrey is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join its team on a 37.5-hour week. You will contribute to care for adults with forensic mental health needs in a newly developed ward, with a focus on developing specialist skills and positive outcomes.

You will work under supervision to plan and review OT programmes, build rapport with service users, and participate in ongoing training to advance your career within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognised institution.
• HCPC registration or applying for registration in the UK.
• Evidence of ability to plan, implement and evaluate projects for specific groups.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive OT assessments.

If so, join the team at Farmfield Hospital in Charlwood, Surrey working 37.5 hours per week as an Occupational Therapist to change lives for the better as you develop specialist skills and make a real difference for some of the most vulnerable people in society.

We are excited to announce the opening of a new ward in early 2027 at Farmfield Hospital which will be a 5 bedded enhanced MSU service with some ASD / LD speciality. This is an exciting time to join us as we launch a new venture to provide a bespoke MH Forensic Secure Service for patients in a recently renovated purpose built ward.

You will be a part of an environment that has a strong emphasis on teamwork and will enjoy hands‑on experience, receiving guidance and supervision from experienced healthcare professionals. You will have continuous access to a range of training opportunities to move your career forward.

Under supervision, you will be responsible for planning and facilitating evidence-based group and individual programmes. You will create individual rapports with service users to empower recovery.

As An Occupational Therapist You Will Be

• Providing comprehensive OT assessments.
• Under supervision, planning and reviewing OT treatment programmes.
• Under supervision, identifying and actioning referrals both in-house, including support staff, and to external agencies
• Supporting the planning, evaluation, and audit of practices, clinical pathways and protocols at St Mary's Hospital.
• Ensuring that contemporaneous, written and electronic records and activity data are maintained following professional and services standards.

To Be Successful In This Role, You'll Need

• A Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
• A UK HCPC registration or applied for
• Evidence of ability to research, plan, implement and evaluate a project for specific groups
• Effective written/verbal communication skills

Where You Will Be Working

Location: Farmfield Drive, Charlwood, Surrey, RH6 0BN

You will be working at Farmfield Hospital, which is a large purpose-built medium-secure service with good facilities. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will provide care and support for adult men 18+ with a forensic background and enduring mental health illnesses such as personality disorder, substance misuse issues and behaviours that challenge.

Farmfield is located North West of Gatwick airport near the village of Hookwood, It is easiest to reach the site by car.
