This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. A key aspect of the role involves continual improvement and standardisation of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, and industry guidelines, as well as promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Collaborate with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required exposure monitoring/health surveillance programs.
- Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic risks, including but not limited to:
- Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
- Chemical exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, welding fumes, toxic gases)
- Asbestos management and surveys
- Noise and vibration management and assessments
- Radiation management and assessments
- Thermal hazard assessments
- Potable water management
- Communicable diseases, mould, spores, animal and insect hazards, DSE, fatigue
Recommend and design control strategies.Monitor and evaluate control measures such as LEV, PPE, RPE testing and inspection.Deliver occupational hygiene training, including asbestos awareness, dust procedures, and PPE/RPE use and maintenance.Ensure assurance processes, including inspections and audits, are conducted across all operational sites, covering occupational health and hygiene standards, including accommodation, welfare, and food areas.Maintain calibration systems for occupational hygiene equipment.Key Requirements Include:
- Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via:
- A BOHS-accredited degree, or
- A combination of BOHS W & P modules.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, including measurement techniques.Drive and passion to champion occupational hygiene and workplace health risks, influencing management and staff.Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting effectively across various forums and mediums.Ability to meet tight deadlines and produce high-quality work within set timeframes.At Perenco, we value and reward our employees with competitive salaries and benefits, including:
