This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.

The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. Continual improvement and standardisation of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems are core components of this role. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with relevant statutory provisions, codes of practice, good practices, and industry guidelines, while promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.

This position will be based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Work with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required exposure monitoring/health surveillance programs.
  2. Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to exposures and health risks from chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic factors, including but not limited to:
  • Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
  • Chemical workplace exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, cement-based products, welding fumes, toxic gases)
  • Asbestos Management and surveys, including material and risk assessment scores
  • Noise and vibration management, including surveys and exposure assessment
  • Radiation management and assessment
  • Other hazards such as thermal, potable water, communicable diseases, mould, animal/insect hazards, DSE, and fatigue
  • Recommend and design control strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate control measures such as LEV, PPE, RPE testing and inspections.
  • Deliver occupational hygiene training programs, including asbestos awareness, dust procedures, and PPE/RPE use and maintenance.
  • Ensure assurance processes (inspections and audits) are conducted across all operational sites, covering occupational health and hygiene standards, including accommodation, welfare, and food areas.
  • Maintain calibration systems for occupational hygiene equipment.
  • Key Requirements Include:

    1. Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via:
    • A qualifying BOHS-accredited degree, or
    • A combination of BOHS W & P modules.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, with knowledge of measurement techniques.
  • Drive and passion to champion occupational hygiene and workplace health risks, influencing management and workforce.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting effectively in various forums and mediums.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and produce high-quality work within specified timeframes.
