This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. Continual improvement and standardization of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems are core components of this role. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, and industry guidelines, as well as promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position will be based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Work with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required exposure monitoring/health surveillance programs.
- Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to exposures and health risks from chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic factors, including but not limited to:
- Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
- Chemical workplace exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, cement-based products, welding fumes, toxic gases)
- Asbestos Management and surveys, including material and priority risk assessments
- Noise and vibration management, including surveys and exposure assessments
- Radiation management, including local rules and exposure assessments
- Thermal hazard assessments, potable water management, communicable diseases, mould & spores, animal and insect hazards, DSE, fatigue
Recommend and design control strategies.Monitor and evaluate control measures such as LEV, PPE, RPE testing and inspections.Deliver occupational hygiene training, including asbestos awareness, dust procedures, and PPE/RPE use and maintenance.Ensure assurance processes (inspections and audits) are conducted across all operational sites, including support centers and NUIs, covering occupational health and hygiene standards, guidelines, and procedures, including accommodation, welfare, and food areas.Maintain calibration systems for occupational hygiene equipment.Key Requirements Include:
- Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via:
- Qualifying BOHS accredited degree or
- Combination of BOHS W & P modules
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, including measurement techniques.
- Drive and passion to champion occupational hygiene and workplace health risks, influencing management and workforce.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting articulately in various forums and mediums.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and produce high-standard work within agreed timelines.
