This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. A key part of this role involves continual improvement and standardization of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, industry guidelines, and promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Work with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required exposure monitoring/health surveillance programs.
- Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic risks, including but not limited to:
- Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
- Chemical workplace exposure monitoring (e.g., natural gas condensate — benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene; mercury, lead, chromium; solvents; cement-based products; welding fumes; toxic gases)
- Asbestos Management and surveys, including material and priority risk assessments
- Noise and vibration management, including surveys and exposure assessments
- Radiation management and assessment
- Thermal hazard assessment
- Potable water management
- Communicable diseases, mould & spores, animal/insect hazards, DSE, fatigue
Recommend and design control strategies.Monitor and evaluate control measures such as LEV, PPE, RPE testing and inspection.Deliver occupational hygiene training, e.g., asbestos awareness, dust procedures, PPE/RPE use and maintenance.Ensure assurance processes (inspections and audits) are conducted across all operational sites, including support centers and NUIs, covering occupational health standards, guidelines, and procedures, including accommodation, welfare, and food prep areas.Maintain calibration systems for occupational hygiene equipment.Key Requirements Include:
- Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via:
- Qualifying BOHS accredited degree or
- Combination of BOHS W & P modules
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, with knowledge of measurement techniques.
- Drive and passion to champion occupational hygiene and health risks, influencing management and workforce.
- Excellent communication skills for presentations and various mediums.
- Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
